1729 kg drugs disposed; Brown sugar, WIY recovered

As a part of regional meeting on drug trafficking and national security held in Guwahati, Manipur police disposed 1729.662 kg of seized drugs at Shija Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility located at Lamdeng on Saturday.
The regional meeting was attended by Union home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren virtually among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the drug disposal event, Inspector General of Police Zone I Themthing Ngashangva informed that the drugs disposed at Lamdeng were seized in connection with 57 major cases.
The drugs included 6.319 kg of heroin, 18.619 kg of WY tablets, 1704 kg of ganja, 595 gram of Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) and 129 gram of N-10 tablet.
He further informed that the drugs were disposed of after taking due approval from the court and drugs controller, New Delhi.
There are also large quantities of drugs awaiting disposal due to pending cases and they will be destroyed later after completing judicial proceedings and approval from the court, the IGP added.
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) recovered 4127 gram brown sugar and 2133 gram WIY tablets worth Rs 9.24 crore at Khudengthabi check post in Tengnoupal district on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), based on specific input, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted and checked three individuals driving a couple of two wheelers in general area Pineapple Farm.
On thorough search of the vehicles, 4127 gram brown sugar packed in 100 soap cases and 2133 gram WIY tablets in two packages were recovered from the individuals.
The recovered drugs along with the smugglers and the two wheeler vehicles have been handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
The Battalion also recovered 290 gram of brown sugar worth Rs 58 lakh at Khudengthabi Permanent Vehicle Check Post in Tengnoupal district on Friday.
During routine checking of vehicles, troops of Assam Rifles checked a white EECO Van at Khudengthabi Permanent Vehicle Check Post.
On thorough search of the vehicle,.
290 gram brown sugar packed in 7 Soap cases was recovered.
The drugs were concealed under the driver's seat.
The recovered drugs along with the smuggler and the vehicle have been handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
