Drugs worth crores seized, disposed

Even Manipur Police Department disposed of a total of 1729.662 Kilograms of banned narcotic items at Shija Common Bio-medical Waste Treatment Facility located at Lamdeng today, security agencies seized drugs worth crores of rupees.
The disposal of the drugs was carried out under the supervision of Themthing Ngasangva IGP (Zone 1) .
The disposed of banned narcotic items included 6.319 Kgs of heroin (No 4) powder, 18.619 Kgs of WY Amphetamine tablets, 1704 Kgs of contraband ganja, 585 grams of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules and 129 grams of N-10 tablets.
The banned drugs were seized by the State Police in 57 cases from 1991 to 2022 .

Briefing media persons, IGP (Zone 1) Themthing Ngasangva stated that the destruction of the banned drug items was in line with the regional meeting on 'Drug Trafficking and National Security' held at Guwahati in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of North East States.
The destruction of drug items was carried out in coordination with other North East States after taking permission from the Drug Controller, New Delhi and by following all the judicial procedures, he said.
When asked if the destroyed drugs included those seized by the police in Lukhosei Zou case, Ngasangva said the drugs seized in the case have not been disposed of as the State is going to appeal before a higher Court against the judgement order of the Special Court ND&PS.
The disposal of the banned drug items at Shija Common Bio-medical Waste Treatment Facility was also attended by DIG (Range 1) K Kabib, SP Imphal West Ksh Shivakanta, SP Imphal East M Pradip and Additional SP (Investigative Unit), Crime against Women Imphal West Rattana Ngasepam.
Meanwhile, personnel of 20 Assam Rifles and 165 Territorial Army seized drugs worth crores and arrested three persons yesterday in two separate incidents.
20 Assam Rifles personnel while checking an Eeco van at its Khudengthabi post at around 12 pm yesterday recovered seven soap cases containing brown sugar and arrested the driver identified as Ngamkhosei Baite (25), son of Lunkhongam Baite of Churachandpur.
The Eeco van was travelling from Moreh towards Imphal while it was stopped for checking at the post, said sources.
The seized brown sugar along with the soap cases weigh 290 grams and are worth about Rs 58 lakh in international market.
In another case, a combined team of 20 Assam Rifles and 165 Territorial Army arrested two youths and seized brown sugar and WY tablets worth crores, yesterday.
The arrested duo have been identified as LS Konminlen Mate (28), son of LS Jamthang Mate and Mangginlal (28), son of Ch Tongkholet, both of Tengnoupal village.
The two were travelling on a Honda Activa and a FZ bike when they were stopped near a pineapple farm along Imphal-Moreh road for checking by the combined team at around 9.30 am yesterday, said sources.
On checking their vehicles, the two were found carrying 100 soap cases containing brown sugar and two packets of WY tablets.
The brown sugar with the soap cases weigh 4.127 kilograms and is worth around Rs 8 crore in international market.
The WY tablets weigh 2.13 kilograms and are worth Rs 99 lakh, said sources.
The seized items have been handed over to Moreh police station.
