Awareness on menstrual hygiene held at Senapati

AMYAA NGO, with an objective to "Redefine the lives of the poor" came up with an initiative in collaboration with Project BAALA, a Delhi-based organisation, which aims to end period poverty and period illiteracy.
The project reportedly aims to ensure that every female in menstruation has access to affordable menstrual health solutions.
An awareness programme on "Menstrual Hygiene cum Free Distribution of Reusable Sanitary Pads" was organised at Senapati Women's Market (Apfii Saliki), by AMYAA NGO in collaboration with Project BAALA, under the theme "YOU FOR 22".RK Paul Chawang, founder and president of AMYAA NGO, stated that youths of today must not live under psychological fear but to raise their voices against deprivations of their basic rights, such as right to education, health, and clean drinking water facilities in their respective villages.
Seeing rampant practices of open corruption, the founder president urged not to be silent but to speak up if one wants their children and upcoming generations to live progressive lives.
Women and mothers play a key role towards their community and societal development.
Thus, every woman must be united to fight against corruption," he added.
RP Marina Aweliu, facilitator AMYAA NGO, spoke extensively on menstruation, hygienic practices, how to relieve pain, when to visit a doctor, its environmental implications and introduction to BAALA sustainable pads.
The key beneficiaries of the event were Senapati District Women Association, One Stop Centre, Sharon Home for Destitute girls and school dropouts, MANEDA Orphanage Home, youths and women vendors of Senapati.
About 380-400 sustainable pads were distributed in the later part of the programme.
The AMYAA NGO extended its heartfelt gratitude to SDWA, Senapati Town Committee and Senapati police department for their support and cooperation which resulted in the success of the event.
