Two held with SIM cards used by UGs

Imphal, October 08 2022:
A team of Imphal West district police commando arrested two people with various SIM cards suspected to have been used by insurgents.
The two arrested people have been identified as Angomjambam Debal (39) s/o Kumar of Khurai Chinganbam Leikai and Chanam Jiten (37) s/o Shamu of Chanam Sandrok Mayai Leikai.
Police recovered one Eeco van, 2 mobile phones, 13 handset boxes of Realme Mobile, 5 small boxes of Realme buds and 36 Jio SIM cards, 30 Airtel SIM cards, and 3 tax invoice sheets.
According to a police report, on receipt of reliable information, a team of the district commando carried out search operation in Paona Bazar area on Friday, during which Debal and Jiten were detained.
On frisking, several unauthorised cards were recovered from the possession of Deval, who on questioning, revealed that he was instructed by one Shubam, a salesman at Pawan Brothers Mobile Shop, Moreh to pick up the SIM cards from Chanam Jiten from near Ibohal Cycle, Paona Bazar.
Both of them were handed over to City PS, which then registered a case and conducted an investigation.
Meanwhile, the department has warned SIM card retailers not to issue SIM cards against the rules, which could then be used by anti-social elements.
