Imphal, May 12 2023:
Stating that the pres-ent restive situation is fall-out of allowing foreigners to settle in Manipur over the course of years, Khun-drakpam Kendra Youth's Organisation (KHUKYO) has demanded the central government to make its stand clear on the matter.
According to a statement released by its Information and Publicity secretary I Tony, KHUKYO stated that union home minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Imphal on January 5, an-nounced to put an end to the drug issue in the state before the 2024 elections.
However, a nomadic group from Myanmar has infiltrated the state with an agenda of setting up a drug market.
Although the indigenous people are aware of the identity of the enemies, the government of India is con-tinuing to feign ignorance, which in turn is hindering the restoration of peace in the state.
Thus, one cannot help but bear resentment for the influx of foreigners and other key issues plaguing the state, which are the result of Manipur's merger to In-dia.
The government needs to understand this matter clearly and take appropriate steps accordingly.
The indigenous people of Manipur do not consider anyone as its adversary but will give equal response to anyone who wants to sup-press and decimate them, as depicted in the recent violence.
Until all foreigners are ex-pelled from Manipur, similar clashes/violence will contin-ue to occur in the state.
As such, the question is why no action has been taken up un-der the Manipur Foreigners Act, 1946.The apathy of the central government will only serve as a form of support to-wards the outsiders/foreign-ers' action to exterminate the indigenous people and set up international drug syndicate, KHUKYO cautioned.
