Imphal, May 12 2023:
The Coordination Committee (CorCom) has claimed that the violence which rocked Kangleipak since May 3 could have been prevented had the people of Manipur understood the agenda of the Government in advance.
In a press release issued by its media coordinator M Sak-hen, CorCom asked the Indian Government to take full responsibility for the loss of lives and destruction of properties amid the violence.
Accusing the Government of employing divisive police time and again, CorCom alleged that the Government could have interfered and prevented the violence from taking place if it wasn't their doing or wants to protect lives.
Claiming that the Centre and the State Government have been using all its might to repress 'our freedom struggle,' it asked why the Central and the State Governments didn't interfere to prevent the clash caused by misunderstandings among sections of people.
CorCom went on to claim that whatever the Centre and the Manipur Government are doing in the name of restoring normalcy is just a pretence to protect its image in front of the international community.
Further claiming that India has been employing divisive policy to suppress 'our freedom struggle,' it alleged that smaller communities started establishing ethnic armies due to prolonged subjugation by the alleged colonial system.
It is the plot of the Indian Government which led to identity issue, distortion of history, raising of demands which hurt the interest of other commu- nities, mistrust among the people and killing one another, CorCom alleged.
'Claiming that there is contest among the Nagas, Kukis, Meetei Pangals and Meeteis in Manipur as they don't put a collective effort to protect the erstwhile kingdom from the onslaught of India, CorCom alleged that Nagaisation-Kukinisation (Naganisation-Kukinisation) have already taken place in hill districts after section of people identified themselves as Naga-Kuki.
The name Manipur, on the other hand, has become exclusive to Meeteis, it alleged.
It was the lack of vision by our political leaders which led to the emergence of ethnic Nationalism in Manipur, CorCom claimed.
CorCom also claimed that there is a possibility of people with ulterior motives having a hand in the administration, of armed and non-armed organisations in Manipur.
The genesis of all the lack of trust and contest between the people of Manipur is the demands being raised by different communities which are exclusive to their interest only, CorCom claimed. People who understand the ulterior motive of the Indian Government will advocate peaceful coexistence to bring Manipur Nationalism though those who lack insight may consider them as cowards, CorCom alleged.
Saying that keeping the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur intact is indispensable to protect the erstwhile kingdom, CorCom claimed that India, however, sees the land and other resources of Manipur as their commodities to earn revenue only. "To us indigenes, land, river, hills and all other resources? of Manipur are our father and mother which provide for our living but they are only commodities to the Indian Government," CorCom claimed.
Saying that communities who have been living-in Manipur for centuries will never want Manipur to break apart, CorCom claimed that those who want to disintegrate Manipur are outsiders. "If the question of disintegration of Manipur arises then we have to stop it using all pur might," CorCom asserted.
"We ought to remember that even the mighty British who are more powerful than India lost many of their men-in front of Kanglasha," CorCom claimed.
"In an entity which is as diverse as Manipur, a movement which is exclusive to the interest of a particular community should not be initiated nor should it advocate only one spe-cific religion," CorCom added.
CorCom farther claimed that positive criticism and decent views raised by the people belonging to different communities have to be considered to bring unity among the people and in the larger interest of Manipur.
CorCom then said that the celebration of Mera Hou Chongba and involvement of Tangkhuls in Lai Haraoba is a testimony of hill and valley sharing a common history .
