Aid extended to relief camps

Thongju Kendra Relief Committee, under the sponsorship of Power Minister Th Biswajit, donated relief materials to a number of camps housing displaced people.
Besides providing relief materials, the relief committee id also taking care of around 465 displaced people at the Ideal Women College at Akampat.
The 465 persons include 400 from Moreh and 65 from Churachandpur who have been displaced by the violent
clashes that occurred on May 3 and following days.
Th Biswajit personally visited the relief camp today and assured all possible assistance.
He said ceiling fans have been installed inside all rooms to beat summer heat and a medical team is working 24x7 at the relief camp.
Locals of Khongman and Singjamei Khsteri Leikai and other surrounding areas are also providing assistance.
Today, the Power Minister also visited several relief camps at Moirang Khunou, Chandpur and other places under Thanga AC.
He provided 340 mattresses, 340 bed covers, 340 pillows, water tanks, ceiling fans, sanitary pads for women and other essential items at the camps.
Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro accompanied the Minister at the relief camps.
At a relief camp, Th Biswajit said the communal violence was very unfortunate that should have never happened.
The Government is taking up all efforts to bring normalcy and restore peace.
Bringing a lasting solution and peace require the cooperation and assistance of the people of both the communities, he said.
Efforts are on to avoid any future clashes of similar nature.
Violent clashes will not bring any solution.
People of all communities should coexist peacefully like before, he added.
Later, Th Biswajit visited Kumbi AC MLA Sanasam Premchandra at his house at Saiton and they talked about the present crisis and the needs of the relief camps at Kumbi.
