MLA team visits peripheral villages

Imphal, May 12 2023:
A team of MLAs vis ited villages located in the peripheral areas and foothills and interacted with the vil-lagers on Friday.
During the interactions, the villagers highlighted their grievances and con-cerns to the team, which included mostly of securi-ty and supply of essential commodities among others.
The team visited Leimaram Chidu Waterfall, Saiton, Nga-nukon, Phoubakchao, etc., and assured the locals that the government will provide security and ensure protec-tion of the people, especially those in the peripheral areas.
The team comprised Sagolband MLA RK Imo, Mayang Imphal MLA Kongkham Robindro, Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor, Lamlai MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Thanga MLA Tong-bram Robindro, Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, and Oinam MLA Irengbam Nalini.
After taking stock of the situation, the team also pro-vided help and assistance to the villagers.
Meanwhile, a government update on the prevailing sit-uation conveyed that the state is limping back to nor-malcy and the government has relaxed curfew for seven hours in different districts on Friday, during which people could be seen coming out for normal activities.
Surveillance measures are being carried on with contin-uous deployment of forces.
Relief measures are also con-tinuing and being monitored at the highest level.
So far, 423 arms and 6697 ammu-nitions have been recovered, while 339 cases have been registered in relation with the violence, it said.
The update also informed that as on Friday, 2759 people have left the state by air with most of them students from other states.
The government also stressed that it is not the time to play politics when the people are suffering and urged political parties not to play politics at this juncture.
In the line of duty for the country and for the state, a rifleman of the 5th MR namely Heisnam Men Singh had lost his life on Thurs-day.
The state government has assured all benefits to the family of the deceased as per government rules.
Chief minister, ministers and MLAs paid floral trib-utes and expressed sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
Pointing out that some local newspapers have re-ported that the "Govern-ment has lost to SoO cadres", the government termed the statement as very unfortu-nate and appealed to all not to make such irresponsible statements.
The government and the security forces are at the forefront to make sure that all steps are taken to en-sure the safety of the people.
Stating that peace is steadily returning in the state, the update urged all concerned to help maintain peace and tranquillity.
