Imphal, May 12 2023:
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers' Union (AMRTD&MWU) has urged the government of Manipur's security advisor Kuldiip Singh to intervene in bringing back the stranded vehicles with adequate security cover for safe passage of all transport vehicles on the two NHs of the state.
In a letter addressed to the security ad-visor on Friday, AMRTD&MWU general secretary Maimom Anil Meitei pointed out that as a result of present restive situation in the state vehicles carrying essential com-modities are stranded along NH 2 and NH 37.Some of the vehicles have crossed Mao gate but are stranded in Senapati district due to lack of security cover.
Despite presence of security personnel at-tempts were made to loot the Imphal-bound vehicles numbering about 200 consequently forcing the transporters to take the U-turn till Lairou area in Senapati, it claimed.
AMRTD&MWU stated that prices of es-sential commodities would continue to skyrocket if the stranded transport vehicles are not provided security cover.
