CM pays tributes to slain Rifleman

Last rites of late Heisnam Jiten Singh, the MR personnel who was shot dead by suspected armed Kuki militants, were performed today.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh., several Ministers and MLAs and high ranking police officials paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of H Jiten Singh at Manipur Police Memorial Complex followed by a gun salute and a monumental pillar was erected at the premises of 1 st Manipur Rifles campus.
The State Government has assured that all benefits will be given to the family of the deceased as per Government rules.
The Ministers and MLAs who were present include Works Minister K Govindas,
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, MLA Th Arunkumar, MLA Khuraijam Loken Singh and MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor alias Keba Singh.
The mortal remains of Jiten was brought to the Manipur Police Memorial Complex after performing autopsy at RIMS mortuary.
Later, the mortal remains of H Jiten Singh was cremated at his birthplace at Thanga Heisnam Leikai, Bishnupur district.
Heisnam Jiten Singh was a Rifleman of the Manipur Rifles attached to Bishnupur Commando.
He was killed during an intense gunfight between commando police personnel and suspected armed Kuki militants at Tronglaobi, Churachandpur district on Thursday.
Five commando personnel were also injured in the gunfight.
Heisnam Jiten Singh is survived by his wife Heisnam ongbi Ranjita Devi and their two children, Jetli (18) and H Lanchenbi (10) .
The Chief Minister c not give any comment regarding the death of Jiten to the media persons who had turned up to cover the sol-emn event.
MLA team visits pe-ripheral villages, takes stock : A team of the Manipur Legislative Assem-bly members visited villages located in the peripheral areas and foothills of the State and interacted with the vil-lagers.
The team comprised of RK Imo, MLA of Sagolbam AC; Kongkham Robindro Singh, MLA Mayan Imphal AC; Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, MLA of Patsoi AC; Khongbantabam Ibomcha Singh, MLA of Lamlai AC; Tongbram Robindro Singh, MLA of Thanga AC; S Premchandra Singh, MLA of Kumbi AC and Irengbam Nalini Devi, MLA of Oinam AC.
During the interaction, the villagers highlighted their grievances and concerns before the team.
Most of these grievances revolved around security and supply of essential commodities among others.
The MLA team visited Leimaram Waterfall, Saiton, 'Nganukon, Phoubakchao etc and interacted with the villagers and assured them that the Government's goal is to provide security and ensure protection of the people especially those in the peripheral areas.
After taking stock of the situation, the team also provided help and assistance to the villagers.
