Internet ban extended till May 16

Imphal, May 12 2023:
Citing possibility of disturbance to law and order, the state government on May 11 ordered extension of the suspen-sion of intemetservices, includ-ing mobile data and broadband services for five more days.
The order stated that it has become imperative to take ade-quate measures to maintain law and order in public interest, by stopping the spread of misin-formation and false rumours, through various social media platform such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twit-ter, etc.
According to the order, "there is an imminent danger of loss of life and /or damage to public/private property, and wide spread disturbances to public tranquillity and com-munal munal harmony, as a result of inflammatory material and false rumours, which might be transmitted/circulated to the public through social media/ messaging services on mobile services, SMS services and don-gle services" .
According to the statement, any person found guilty of vi-olation of the aforesaid order will be liable for legal action.
Nochange in curfew relaxation hours IMPHAL: District magistrates of different districts have relaxed the curfew imposed under CrPC 144 on Saturday in view of the improvement in the situation across the state.
The curfew currently im-posed in Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West districts has been relaxed from 5am to 12 noon Saturday; while for Jiribam district, the curfew relaxation hours will be from Sam to 3pm Saturday.
