Thoubal, July 06 2022:
While urging the government to stop developing minor industrial estates near Khongjom Bazar, Fatherland Patriots' Memorial Club has expressed apprehension that the Jal Jeevan Mission being taken up by the government will fail if minor industrial estates' project is not stopped.
Speaking to media persons at Khongjom Bazar community hall on Wednesday, finance secretary of the Club Sapam Rabichandra pointed out that Khongjom Water Supply located at Khongjom Mamang Ching is providing tap water adequately to every household in Khongjom circle, making the Jal Jeevan Mission of the government successful.
But it is unfortunate that minor industrial estates are being taken up developed near Khongjom bazar amidst public discontentment over operation of four brick fields in Khongjom circle as they are polluting the water supply reservoir due to waste water released from the brick fields.
Condemning that departments concerned for maintaining stoic silence de spite submission of several complaints, Rabichandra insisted that the industrial estate project should be withdrawn.
He further said that encroachers are trying to set tie on the nearby hills of the water supply scheme by carrying out earth quarrying.
While urging the government to look into the aforementioned demands, he warned of launching protest by joining hands with the public from July 20 if the government continues to undermine the matter.
