Amrita Sinha shines in 'War on Drug' mission

Despite being a woman, Kangpokpi SP Amrita Sinha has been relentlessly working to make Kangpokpi district free from drug smugglers and users under the 'War on Drug' mission of the government and she was even rewarded Rs 10 lakh by chief minister N Biren in honour of her achievements in major drug haul cases.
Under the leadership of Amrita Sinha, Kangpokpi police recovered 2.1 kg of heroin on June 9, 2022.Though the recovered drug is worth Rs 63 lakh in Indian market, it would fetch around Rs 31 crore in the international market.
In another major drug haul case, the district police under her leadership seized 181 soap cases containing 2.1 kg of heroin worth around Rs 27 crore in the international market.
In honour of these commendable achievements under 'War on Drug' mission, CM Biren rewarded her Rs 10 lakh recently and lauded her courageous and relentless efforts towards uprooting drug makers and users in the district.
Till June 30, the district police under the leadership of Amrita Sinha destroyed 205 acres of poppy plantation and seized 13.126kg of opium and 2.588kg of brown sugar in different anti-drug drives.
These drives also resulted in seizing 4,200 WY tablets and 380kg Ganja which would worth more than Rs 2 crore and registered cases under NDPS Act against 22 people.
Apart from the chief minister, DGP Manipur also lauded Amrita Sinha's dutiful and skilful anti-drug drives and even remarked that her achievements under 'War on Drug' mission boosted-morale of the police.
The DGP also stressed the need for the police to remain alert for stopping drug smugglers along Imphal-Dimapur road as it is being used as transit route for drugs coming from Myanmar for exporting to other states of the country and abroad.
