Peddler, accused in drug bust case arrested

A district police team led Churachandpur police station officer in-charge N Ingocha Singh recovered brown sugar weighing 320 grams stored in soap cases during a raid in the house of one Thangminlal Haokip alias Minlal (29), son of Ngulmang Haokip of Molkon village in Churachandpur district on Wednesday morning.
On the other-hand, Thoubal district police arrested two more persons in connection with the busting of a brown sugar factory at Moijing Mina Bazaar by Thoubal district police on June 14.The two persons on Tuesday have been identified as Kamneilun Vaiphei alias Khai (52), son of Lalnek Vaiphei of New Kannan village, Kangpokpi, and a VDF member Md Aslam Khan (34), son of Md Jalaruddin of Sikhong Thongthabi, Thoubal.
Kamneilun was arrested from Henjang village under Machi PS, Tengnoupal and Md Aslam from Thoubal district headquarters.
The duo was involved in supply of opium to Mojing, according to a police report.
The recent busting of the brown sugar factory at Moijing had led to the arrest of one Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi (48), wife of Th Kadimur alias Kadim along with a huge quantity of brown sugar, and further arrest of five involved persons.
Massive efforts are still on to arrest others including financiers, drug dealers and transporters involved in the drug manufacturing racket, said the report, adding that routine house searches are being conducted at suspected hideouts of Moijing and other suspected locations to detect drugs and to arrest suspects who are still absconding.
