Blood donation, plantation drive organised

Molnom (Churachandpur) jointly organised the 121st Birth Anniversary celebration of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at the conference hall of Endurance Library on Wednesday.
Delivering the keynote address, NYK Churachandpur deputy director H Doungel, who is also the OSD of NYK, highlighted the life and Contributions of Dr Mukherjee, a barrister, refined academician and visionary politician, who founded the Bharat Jana Sangh in 1951.He said that the observance programme was organised to spread awareness about his life and contribution to the nation.
Presenting a paper on 'The Contributions of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for India', Rayburn College, Churachandpur political science assistant professor T Lawmpi dwelt at length on the contributions of Shyama in the field of politics and education and said that Shyama Prasad was a champion of unity and became one of the builders of the nation.
Lawmpi also said Dr Mukherjee was an ardent nationalist and today's youth have many to learn from his life.
As a part of the programme, also attended by Endurance Library proprietor Seijachung Haokip, a blood donation camp was organised by NYK at Churachandpur District Hospital.
Meanwhile, under the aegis of Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshor, BJP Patsoi Mandal launched a mass tree plantation programme in different parts of the constituency in connection with the 121st birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on Wednesday.
After paying floral tribute to Dr Mukherjee, Patsoi Mandal members led by the MLA conducted mass tree programme at Patsoi Part 2 PAMYAL Ground, Tera Sapam Leirak, Tongbram Leikai, Khamnam Leirak Shakti Sen, Takyel Kolom Leikai, Mayaikoibi PCC Ground Manak, Takyel Khongban, Taobungkhok Awang Leikai, Poklen Pokpa Laipham and Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai in the AC.
Speaking to the media, MLA Kunjakeshor informed that the sacrifices and the vision of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee to make a better country can be disseminated to the public when the saplings planted on Wednesday become fully matured.
He informed that around 400 saplings will be planted as part of the programme in areas under the 49 units of the AC.
Necessary measures will be taken up to ensure that all the saplings survive and make Patsoi AC a green constituency.
While stressing the need for planting trees to mitigate climate change, the MLA also urged the people to join hands in planting saplings in the AC.
The plantation drive was participated by the leaders and members of the BJP Patsoi Mandal.
