6th MNCA Elite Tournament : Nitesh Sedai stars as CHAMP post first win in three matches

Nitesh Sedai shone with both the bat and the ball to help CHAMP register first win in three Group B league match of the 6th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament which resumed today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium after a gap of almost three weeks due to rain.
CHAMP after choosing to field first restricted WYC, Thoubal Wangkhem to 178 for 7 in allotted 37 overs courtesy brilliant bowling performances from Lairenjam Ansh Singh and Nitesh Sedai before cruising to five wicket win thanks to half century knocks from Sougrakpam Shangkar Singh and Nitesh Sedai.

Put in to bat first, WYC were slow off the blocks and were reduced to 41-2 in 8.4 overs as Ruhit Nongmaithem (6) and Thokchom Momocha Singh (6) fell to Lairenjam Ansh.
However, Wangkhem Shamungou resurrected the innings hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours on the way to his 77-ball 53 with the assistance of Moirangthem Priyobarta to forge a 60-run third wicket partnership.
After Ansh completed his three wicket haul removing Shamungou, Priyobarta (31) nicked Nitesh Sedai to the waiting hands of Leikhram Johny Singh in the 3rd delivery of the 31st over as the scoreboard read 134 for 4 .
Nitesh Sedai then sent off Tayenjam Tomba Singh and Mangi Singh Gotimayum on golden ducks with his impressive off break bowling in the next two consecutive deliveries to complete his hattrick.
After 142 for 7 in 32.5 overs, Tayenjam Tomba Singh added a quickfire 50 off 33 balls by smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes to see off the innings with Huirongbam Biteshwor Singh (11-ball 11) .
In reply, CHAMP got off to a solid start and gathered 45 runs in 9 overs before Chingangbam Bonny was run out on 16 for the first wicket.
Sougrakpam Shangkar Singh also saw Samir depart on a duck in the 11th over to Huirongbam Biteshwor but kept his aggressive batting on and blazed off 39-ball 54 on the back of two fours and five sixes before being bowled out by Wangkhem Laksmon Singhin the 15th over.
Leikhram Johny (28 off 64 balls) and Nitesh Sedai (55 off 49 balls) then kept the scoreboard ticking rotating strikes and took CHAMP to a sniffing distance of a win.
Md Sultan Karim (11) and Nongthombam Gulson (1) brought CHAMP to home with 5 wickets left to spare in 34.5 overs.
Biteshwor emerged as the pick of the WYC bowlers with the best bowling figures 2 for 34 in 8 overs.
Nitesh Sedai who claimed a hattrick and hit a crucial half century was adjudged man of the match.
CRAU, Khamnam will play PTRC, Patsoi in the next match (Group A) tomorrow.
