The Zeme Naga Council Manipur (ZNCM) has appealed to the State Government to declare the year 2022 as a "Disaster year" as natural calamities continue to bring havoc in the State especially in the hill areas.
In a release, ZNCM expressed its anguish over the tragic incident of Marangching (Makhuam) village in Noney district and stated that other hill areas are also affected greatly by floods and landslides due to incessant rain over the recent months.
The Council also mentioned that road connectivity and communications have been cut off in many hill areas causing acute problems to the people.
ZNCM further urged the State Government to approach the Central Government to declare this year as a "Disaster year" so that the needy and affected people may be saved and compensated.
