Sit-in staged, JAC warns bandh from Jul 8

A sit-in protest was staged for the second day beside NH 102 near Kiyam Khong Ahanbi Khundongbam Leikai on Wednesday in connection with the hit and run case that led to the dead of one Laishram Naba Meitei of Kiyam Siphai Khundongbam Leikai.
Naba was hit by a car heading towards Imphal from Thoubal Bazar around 6:30 pm on July 3 and succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
Protestors used placards inscribed with slogans demanding police to seize the car involved in the case and arrest its owner at the earliest.
Participating in the protest, Laishram (o) Ibetombi, sister in-law of the deceased, decried that the culprit(s) did not even stop to check after hitting the victim right in front of his house.
Meanwhile, the JAC against the Brutal Killing of Laishram Naba Meitei convener Kh Inaocha stated that it has been two days since they have been holding the protest in democratic manner demanding seizure of the vehicle involved in the incident, but till now the authorities concerned have not taken up any concrete action.
Thus, if the government does not find the car involved and seize it by Thursday, they will call a 48-hour total shutdown from July 8 from 5 am on NH 102 (Imphal-Moreh road) section in Thoubal district, he warned.
