Gorkha bodies pay tributes to landslide victims

Imphal, July 06 2022:
A delegation of All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen (Defence & CAPE) Association on Tuesday visited the house of (late) rifleman Tak Bahadur Thapa of 107 TA (11 Gorkha Rifle), son of Kharka Bahadur Thapa at Leplen village, Sanakeithel in Ukhrul district, who lost his life in the June 29 night landslide that occurred in Noney district.
As per a release, the Association provided some items as per Gorkha tradition to family member of the deceased soldier and assured of necessary assistance in the future.
The Association's advisor and team members also counselled the family members about various documentation required and procedures for receiving official benefits, it added.
Meanwhile, Mantripukhri Gorkha Youth Club (MGYC) held a condolence meeting and paid respect to victims of the Makhuam village landslide at Shideshwar Mahadev Mandir, Mantripukhri on Tuesday.
In a release, MGYC informed that all the attendees observed a two-minute silence as mark of respect to the departed soul and paid befitting tributes by lighting candles.
MGYC also prayed for the rescue operation to be successful, it added.
