Team reviews German funded projects

A review of 'Community-based Sustainable Forest Management for Water Resources Conservation in Manipur', a sustainable watershed improvement project of the Government of India funded by the Federal Government of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank), for the year 2022 was carried out by a Mid Term Review team headed by international consultant Frank Sandvoss from September 14 to Saturday under District Project Management Unit (DPMU) Kangpokpi.
In a release, Kangpokpi Division range forest officer Neitinkim conveyed that the team also consisted of national consultant N Kipgen, GFA Consulting Group chief technical advisor Manohar Shreshtha, assistant chief technical advisor Hrishikesh Singh and financial management coordinator Ruhikumar Singh.
The review team visited five Water Resource Conservation Group (WRCG) villages - Maohing, S Changoubung, S Molnom, under Imphal river Watershed, and Konsakhul and Ireng Naga village under Singda river Watershed, it mentioned, while adding that the main aim of the visit was to review all the works that have been carried out in the WRCG villages based on which the project will be continued into the second phase.
The release continued that an interactive session with the villagers concerned was also organised during which the review team got a chance to interact with the stakeholders.
Many queries/doubts regarding various aspects of the project were answered and discussed by the review team and Forest Department.
It can be mentioned that the project area covers approximately 35,000 hectares of the river headwaters in five sub-watersheds located in two districts namely, upper and lower Imphal catchment as well as Singda catchment in Kangpopki along with Ukhrul lower and Ukhrul upper catchment in Ukhrul district.
