Kakching protests keeping land records outside district

Kakching, September 18 2022:
Pointing out that keeping of land records of Kakching, which earlier used to stored in the district office, at Imphal head office is creating serious inconveniences to the people, denizens of Kakching on Sunday staged a sit-in protest and later convened public meeting at Kakching Bazaar demanding to bring back the land records.
The sit-in cum public meeting organised by Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching was attended by Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) president Nongmaithem Sanatombi alias Chaoton and JNGVO Kakching president Kshetrimayum Chhatradhari as presidium members.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the inconveniences caused by not keeping of land records in the district and adopted several resolutions including exerting pressure on the authorities concerned for keeping land records of areas under Kakching district at the district headquarters as done in other districts; proper demarcation of the district boundaries to clear confusion and to demand opening of district level offices which are yet to be opened in Kakching.
As a follow up to the memorandum submitted to the CM on August 16 by JNGVO, the meeting also resolved to send a reminder jointly signed by clubs/organisations to the chief minister.
It cautioned of launching democratic protest by joining hands with people until the demands are fulfilled.
