4 Bio toilets installed at Nongpok Torban

Under the aegis of MAHUD department, Bio Clean Water Care Service OPC Private Limited of Chingamathak Yumnam Leikai has installed four public bio toilets along Kangla Nongpok Torban on Sunday.
MAHUD minister Y Khemchand, who was chief guest of the bio toilet installation ceremony, said that the bio toilets installed by Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) in Imphal city sometimes back were not successful due to lack of maintenance.
However, the four bio toilets being installed along Kangla Nongpok Torban under PPP model by Bio Clean Water Care Service OPC Private Limited and the agency will provide both service and maintenance without taking any money from the government.
If the PPP model is successful in one month or so, steps to install more bio toilets in Imphal city areas will be taken up, he said.
Imphal Smart City CEO Th Harikumar, who also attended the event, said that some bio toilets were installed by IMC near the western gate of Kangla around two/three years back but they were not successful mainly due to lack of proper maintenance.
However, it is encouraging that an agency has come out to install bio toilets along Kangla Nongpok Torban under PPP model and the project is being taken up on trial basis.
If successful, the project for installation of more bio toilets in Imphal city area will be taken up, he added.
