Imphal, September 18 2022:
MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand today inaugurated a bio-toilet complex installed at Kangla Nongpok Torban under PPP model.
The bio-toilets were installed there under a joint initiative of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and the Bio Clean Water Care Service OPC Private Ltd, Chingamathak Yumnam Leikai.
The toilet complex is divided into four chambers namely; ladies, gents, handicapped and transgender.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Khemchand said that the Government did not spend a single rupee in installing the toilet complex but it was installed as a joint venture under PPP model in association with a private firm.
If the bio-toilets prove successful in the next two/three months, works would be initiated to replace old model toilets of Imphal city with the bio-toilets, Khemchand said.
Imphal Smart City CEO Th Harikumar said that bio-toilets installed along Kangla Park some years back to cater to the needs of Imphal Evenings ended in failure due to certain flaws and lack of proper maintenance.
The new bio-toilet complex has been installed on a trial basis, he added.
