2 UGs nabbed, search operations conducted

Imphal West district police commando reported rounded up an underground activist on Monday evening during search operation conducted in MG Avenue area following a tip off from 4 Assam Rifles.
The arrested UG hailing from Salungpham Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district has been handed over to City PS for further necessary action.
Another team of the district police commando also arrested one member of banned PREPAK (Pro) from Lamsang Thong Maning area at about 4.30 pm on Monday.
The nabbed UG has been identified as Sorokhaibam Inaoton alias Sanjit (35) son of late Rajen of Lamsang Thong Maning.
During initial questioning, Inaoton disclosed that he began working for the outfit since July 2021 under the command of one self-styled commander Roshan and also revealed that he along with another member of the outfit served monetary demand to government offices, private hospitals and businessmen.
One mobile phone and one Honda Activa were recovered from his possession.
Inaoton has been handed over to Lamsang PS for further necessary action.
A team of the district police commando also conducted search operation at Keishampat Thiyam Leikai and Leimajam Leikai starting from 6.50 am on Tuesday during which around 50 houses in the two localities were search and verified 65 residents including five UGs who are out on bail.
On the other hand, another team of district police commando conducted search operation at Kasturi crossing of Kalibari area, Majorkhul and MG Avenue from 4.30 pm Tuesday and verified 141 people.
Nine people who did not possess proper identification documents were handed over to City PS for further verification.
Imphal West district police commandos also conducted search operations at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai from 6.30 am till 7.45 am on Monday during which 70 individuals including 4 UG members out on bail were verified.
Later, the team conducted another operation in between Ngari Galli and Bora Galli from 4.30 pm till 5 pm and verified 125 individuals.
Four persons who failed to produce any identification card were briefly detained at City Police Station but later released after further verification.
