Women Parliament on water harvesting held

Kamjong, July 05 2022:
A women parliament on water conservation was held at Kamjong sub-divisional office organised by central team of Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR) under Ministry of Labour and Employment's Manoj Kumar Gupta.
The team deliberated on issues of water availability and its challenges to the participating women, who were also sensitised on harvesting more water through various techniques of water harvesting.
Ministry of Jal Shakti scientist-C PK Dorie, who is the technical nodal officer of the visiting team, also explained on many ways of harvesting traditional and local means rain water for various purposes.
The officials of Kamjong district administration also assured that their water issues will be resolved by the year end.
The womenfolk appreciated the officials from the centre and the state government for the interaction and concern on an issue as essential and important as water, which is an integral part of women's role in her family.
The womenfolk also ex plained their traditional method of harvesting water during rainy season and how they use water in their daily household chores.
Later, the team carried out a tree plantation drive at Transit Camp, Bungpa Khullen, Kamjong.
The officials who attended the event also took a pledge to plant at least one or two trees each in their surrounding areas.
The team also visited Amrit Sarovar project site and a minor project at Bungpa Khullen.
The central team expressed its gratitude to the district administration especially DC Peter Rangnamei and PHED executive engineer Chamdanlung Rongmei and also the district nodal officer of Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
