IIIT-Manipur plants trees under 'One Tree-One Student'

Imphal, July 05 2022:
Indian Institute of Information Technology (HIT), Manipur in collaboration with Central Forest Division observed the 73rd Van Mahotsav on the theme 'One Tree-One Student' on Tuesday.
As part of the observance, a tree plantation drive was launched under the slogan Let us plant a tree, let us plant a hope' at the City Campus of the Institute, Mantripukhri by its director Prof Krishnan Baskar.
During the observance, students and the staff were exhorted to plant at least 200 tree saplings and spread the message on the same, while also regularly looking after the saplings they have planted during the 4-year duration of their course.
Later, a discussion programme was organised where -in Central Forest Division DFO RK Amarjit explained about measures to prevent air pollution, increase soil nutrients and also on how to prevent soil erosion and floods.
A demonstration was also shown to the attendees on how to plant the saplings and see to their full growth.
The observance was also attended by students and staff of IIIT-Manipur as well as officials of the Forest Department.
