Freshers' Meet / prize distribution programme of College of Agriculture held

The Freshers' Meet cum prize distribution programme of 27th Annual College Week of the College of Agriculture (COA), Central Agricultural University (CAU) was held at the auditorium of Iroisemba campus today.
The programme was graced by Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Professor L Nabachandra, Department of Agronomy, COA, Professor N Brajendra, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding and Professor Indira Sarangthem, Dean of COA as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma said that Central Agricultural University, Imphal has been ranked 13th position in the ranking of top agricultural universities in the country and can be rightfully called as a 'Mini India' since students from different States and diverse cultures study in the varsity.

He went on to state that conducting college week enhances the arena of co-curricular activities which will help in shaping the career and personality of the students.
By attending the college week in the regional and national level such as All India Inter Agricultural University Youth Festival organised by ICAR, students have performed exemplarily and have won many accolades which is highly commendable, he added.
He further stated that the college week is a stepping stone for other inter-university and National meets and festivals across the country.
Delivering the presidential speech, Professor Indira Sarangthem said that for the academic session 2021-22, 100 undergraduate students, 62 post graduate students and 13 PhD students took admission in the College of Agriculture.
She assured to provide better teaching resources and practical exposure to the students.
Measures will be taken up to enhance intellectual capacity to ensure that the students have a thriving future career, she added.
She also appealed to the students to apply for ICAR-JRF and other competitive examinations to have more exposure and experience thereby availing most of the opportunities and benefits that comes along.
As a part of the programme, an introduction session of the new students was held and the presidium members distributed prizes to the winners of the College Week.
