Imphal, July 05 2022:
Expressing dissatisfaction over failure of the government to fulfil their long standing demands, members of All Manipur VDF Welfare Association along with parents and guardians of VDF personnel would be launching non-cooperation movement right after the Presidential Elections, which will be held on July 18.The decision was taken in a joint meeting of the association with parents of the personnel.
Informing this during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, legal advisor of the association Dr Oinam Chaoba said that VDF personnel are playing major role in maintaining the law-and-order in the state.
Despite their dedication to the service, the government is giving them step motherly treatment, which is very unfortunate, he said.
The association has been demanding the government to regularise the service of VDF, adopt relevant service RR, pay 13th month's salary, set up separate wing or battalion and service rank among others.
Unfortunately, the government has not been doing anything to honour any of their demand, he said and added that VDF personnel across the 16 districts of the state will carry out different forms of agitation including sit-in protest during the non-cooperation movement.
