Sadar Hills Tribal Union on Land and Forest constituted

Kangpokpi, July 05 2022:
A new tribal organization accommodating all tribes christened 'Sadar Hills Tribal Union on Land and Forest' was constituted today at Kangpokpi District Headquarters.
The newly formed tribal organization comprised of all Kuki and Naga tribes dwelling in Sadar Hills.
The Union was constituted in a meeting hosted by the Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association and attended by various tribal leaders of the district.
Dr M Dominic was appointed as the chairman while Thangkam Lupheng, Tomba Gangmei, and Dama Vaiphei as the vice-chairmen.
Thangminlen Kipgen and Amujai Kamei were appointed as general secretary and joint secretary respectively.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Dr M Dominic said that the main objective of the union was to study whether the ongoing land survey and demarcation of the Forest Department under the Government of Manipur infringed the rights of the tribal people.
He urged all the tribal bodies to support the movement and initiative of the Union.
It may be noted that the newly formed Sadar Hills Tribal Union on Land and Forest is comprised of a 15-member body.
