Governor, AR DG visit landslide survivors at Assam Rifles Hospital

In a bid to secure a better future for the youth of Manipur, Assam Rifles has signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Integrity and Education Development Organisation (NIEDO) and Axis Bank to establish "Assam Rifles Centre of Educational Excellence" at Kangvai in Churachandpur district.
The project has been conceptualised as a year-long fully residential coaching and mentoring facility for students from economically weaker and under privileged sections of Manipur for prestigious competitive examinations like NEET and JEE.
The project is expected to be fully functional for the first batch of 30 students by the first week of August 2022.The MoU was signed on Tuesday at the headquarters of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Mantripukhri in the presence of Governor La Ganesan, Director General Assam Rifles lieutenant general PC Nair, NEIDO CEO Dr Rohit Srivastava, Axis Bank Corporate Affairs head Rudrapriyo Ray and various other senior armed forces officials and civil dignitaries.
During his address, the DG Assam Rifles appreciated the efforts of IGAR (South), NIEDO and Axis bank in coming together towards this humanitarian cause saying it will not only fulfil the drive of immensely talented youth of Manipur but also usher prosperity and happiness in the society and the state.
He highlighted that the mentoring will provide value-based education including soft skill training, critical life competencies, leadership capabilities, personal conditioning, wellness programmes, vocational training, personality development and end to end grooming to the selected students to help them in becoming a productive human resource for the nation.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Governor La Ganesan complimented the noble initiative that would optimise the calibre and talent of those children who lack access to high quality education facilities due to poor economic conditions.
He further opined that the Centre will have immense potential towards nation building and complimented DG Assam Rifles, NIEDO and Axis Bank for the initiative and conceptualisation of such a project that will benefit the future generations of Manipur.
La Ganesan also said that the Assam Rifles has taken a good initiative to start the Centre, adding that such an initiative will provide students with a safe environment and secure place to concentrate their studies under the mentorship of NEIDO and Assam Rifles.
"The centre will help build confidence among the highly intelligent students of Manipur for the IIT-JEE & NEET entrance examinations and also provide the students with best infrastructure and access to good tutoring for the exams so that they can do their parents, state and the country proud".
The youth of Manipur have shown their brilliance and performed outstandingly in sports and arts.
With this initiative, they will have access to good professional education and will make the country proud, Ganesan added.
The Assam Rifles Centre of Educational Excellence in Manipur is the second institute in series of initiative that aims to transform educational opportunities in India's remote locations.
The MoU for the first Assam Rifles Centre of Educational Excellence in Nagaland was signed on May 13, 2022.Prior to the formal function of signing the MoU, La Ganesan visited Assam Rifles Multispecialty Hospital, Mantripukhri and enquired about the health condition of the injured landslide survivors who have been undergoing treatment there.
He met all the seven injured army personnel of 107 Infantry Battalion (TA) and expressed solidarity with them.
The Governor said, "We are all shocked with the sudden demise of precious lives in the landslide which occurred at Tupul in Noney area, a few days back.
They dedicated their lives for the nation and we are all with the bereaved families".
Earlier, on his arrival at the headquarters, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by IGAR (South) major general Rajan Sharawat.
