Women parliament on water harvesting held in Kamjong

Kamjong, July 05 2022:
The Central team of Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR) headed by Manoj Kumar Gupta, Director, Ministry of Labour and Employment visited Kamjong Subdivisional office where women parliament was conducted in relation to water conservation.
The ministerial team deliberated on the issue of water availability and its challenges with the participating women.
The womenfolk, in turn, explained their traditional ways of harvesting water during rainfall and how they use this water in their daily household activities.
They were sensitized on harvesting more water through various techniques of water harvesting.
PK Dorle, Scientist C, Ministry of Jal Shakti who is the technical nodal officer of the visiting team, also explained how through traditional and local means rain water can be harvested for widespread use.
The officials of the District Administration, Kamjong said that their water issues will be resolved at the best level by the end of the year.
The womenfolk appreciated that officials from the Centre and the State government had interacted with them on an issue as essential and important as water, which is very necessary to a woman's role in her family.
Later, the team also conducted a tree plantation drive at the Transit Camp, Bungpa Khullen, Kamjong.
The attending officials also took a pledge to plant at least one or two trees each in their nearby area.
The team also visited an Amrit Sarovar project site and a minor project at Bungpa Khullen.
The Central team expressed gratitude to the District Administration of Kamjong, especially DC Peter Rangnamei, Chamdanlung Rongmei, Executive Engineer, PHED and District Nodal Officer of Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
