Imphal, September 21 2022:
Asking if the villages in the border areas of Manipur are not a part of the State, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has accused the Centre and the State Government of turning a blind eye to the need to solve the boundary issue of the State.
Speaking to media persons while inspecting Border Pillars 102 and 103 installed near Pahaikoh Village in Kamjong district along the Indo-Myanmar border area, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam said that they have inspected Border Pillars 73 to 103 so far and there are issues in most of the Border Pillars.
Saying that UCM has also come across installation of a Border Pillar in the State by Myanmar authority discreetly, he claimed that a number of villages which used to pay hill house tax to the State Government have been occupied by Myanmar.

Claiming that there were instances of Myanmar authority putting the local people who objected to their intrusion behind bars, Joychandra claimed that the Myanmar authority has even encroached upon the sacred site of Manipur.
The UCM said that it is the responsibility of every Manipur to safeguard the boundary of the State.
It would be wise for the State Government to initiate a concrete measure to protect the territory of Manipur while there is a BJP Government at the Centre and the State and while Dr RK Ranjan is the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, he said.
Claiming that the Centre and the State is not putting much thought to end the chronic issue of the State, he added that the people of Manipur would surely launch a strong movement to safeguard the boundary of Manipur and the Government must take full responsibility for all eventualities.
Chief of Nambisha, Shimthar Kamadong also took part in the inspection drive.
Before taking out the inspection drive, UCM and Agriculture Department jointly organised a farmer training programme at Kangpat Khullen, Kamjong under theme "Rejuvenation of Farm Economy through Afforestation '' .
Rabi crop seeds were also distributed during the programme.
