Unclaimed body to be disposed of

Senapati, September 21 2022:
Senapati police has informed that an unclaimed body lying in the JNIMS Morgue will be disposed of with permission from the district magistrate as per law.
Mention may be made that a man suspected to be non-local was found dead with bruised marks near M/Ningthoupham village on September 15 .
Senapati Police recovered the corpse and had earlier issued an order informing for identification of the deceased by relatives but no one has come so far.
An unnatural death case has been registered for investigation.
According to police source, after complying with all legal formalities over the body by conducting inquest, taking photograph and samples of the deceased from the post mortem examination, including observance of the mandatory waiting period for claim of the unclaimed body which was widely published in state daily newspaper on September 16.As the body could not be preserved for long period and may cause risk to health in surrounding environment, the Senapati police has to dispose of the body as per law.
