RIMS decries

Denouncing the alleged intimidation by a patient party to a staff nurse of RIMS at the Casualty Ward yesterday, staff nurses of the healthcare institute staged a sit-in protest at the campus of the healthcare institute today.
Speaking to media persons, president of RIMS Nurses' Association, Tongbram Sunita Devi said that all the patients being brought at the Casualty Ward need rapid medical attention and attending to all the patients is a challenge to the healthcare professionals too.
Saying that the particular person asked the nurses there to administer injections to the patient he brought while the nurses were attending to a serious patient, she claimed that the person however, didn't mention the bed which was occupied by the patient he brought.
Claiming that three nurses went to attend the patient, she alleged that person, however, threatened the staff nurses by taking out a firearm from his bag.
She then said that a complaint had been lodged at Lamphel police station yesterday itself.
Saying that the person has been identified as Kh Ratan and he is now in police custody, she urged the authorities concerned to cancel the arm license given to him.
The Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association (TAMOA) RIMS has also condemned the manner in which the healthcare providers of Emergency Ward, RIMS were intimidated by a patient party using small firearms on the evening of September 20 .
Stating that occurrence of such incidents in the State while the whole country has been appealing for making hospitals a violence free zone in unacceptable, TAMOA in a press release issued today, appealed everyone to cooperate in making RIMS hospital a violence free zone.
TAMOA also called for action against the culprit under the Manipur Medicare Service Personnel and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act 2015 .
