Weeklong nurses' training programme begins

A seven-day nurses' training programme, which is being organised jointly by Manipur Nursing Council, Lamphel and JNIMS hospital under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has begun at JNIMS hospital mini conference hall, Porompat from Thursday, The inaugural function of the training was attended by Health Services director Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar as chief guest and JNIMS director Dr Laishram Deben as president while JNIMS MS Dr Khumukcham Lokeshwor, Manipur Nursing Council registrar Thoudam Nandarani and JNIMS nursing MS Mutum Jibanlata were present as guests of honour.
Delivering his speech, Dr Sasheekumar stressed the importance of having a healthy relationship between the patient and the nurse and further appealed to all the nurses for treating the patients with compassion.
It is unfortunate that some nurses have a bad relationship with patients.
So, a proper training is a must to ensure healthy relationship, he added.
While stating that there will be no hospital and medical college without nurse, Dr Laishram Deben urged to work together and treat the patients properly.
He also called upon the nurses not to take their work lightly for not getting the 7th pay.
"The doctors including me do not get the 7th pay," he remarked, while urging the nurses to take care of the needy patients as their own family members.
