Imphal, January 10 2022:
A premature baby who was born with a congenital surgical problem (TEF Type-C) has been successfully treated and discharged from JNIMS hospital.
According to a report, the baby was born in a private hospital and later referred to JNIMS hospital due to the condition.
The baby underwent several tests, some of which were delayed due to inconveniences.
After all the necessary tests were conducted, paediatric surgeon Dr Dipak and paediatrician Dr Rameshwor operated on the baby, which was a success.
The baby was then admitted to NICU for 3 days.
After the operation, the baby developed sclerema, which was treated immediately.
It is a rare for a premature baby who was born with a congenital condition, to undergo a successful operation and be discharged from the hospital within 2 weeks.
Such cases are even rarer in renowned medical institutes.
Although the staff at JNIMS NICU did not face such cases frequently, they took their role seriously, which helped in saving the life of the baby.
If such congenital diseases were to be treated at private hospitals, the patient party would have to incur lakh of rupees in medical expenses.
However, despite lacking the latest equipment, JNIMS, a government hospital, was able to treat the baby successfully, the report said.
