CM assures house of strengthening peace, law and order and improving infrastructure

Imphal, September 03 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, responding to the suggestions raised by MLA Okram Ibobi Singh, MLA Keisham Meghachandra Singh, MLA Ram Muivah and MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh, during the evening session of the second day of the 8th Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, assured the House that the Government would take appropriate measures to address the concerns raised and strengthen the State's administration.

The Chief Minister appreciated the constructive suggestions of the Members and stressed the need for collective efforts and cooperation among all sections, including elected representatives, to restore peace and normalcy in the State.

He emphasised strengthening the police force and improving its functioning to effectively maintain law and order amid the prevailing challenges.

On revenue generation, Yumnam Khemchand stated that the State has scope to enhance revenue within the permissible framework, noting that the State earns around Rs.20 crore in revenue from liquor, while adhering to the existing regulatory provisions.

Regarding infrastructure development, he informed the House that substantial improvement had been made in around 150 km of road stretches under works undertaken through the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), with improvement of other stretches to be taken up shortly.

The Chief Minister also assured that the Government would examine concerns relating to various development schemes and ensure timely delivery of benefits to the people.

The Government's commitment to restoring peace, strengthening law and order, improving infrastructure and addressing the genuine concerns of elected representatives through a constructive and inclusive approach, he reaffirmed.
