Medical assessment camp for differently abled persons held

Office of Thoubal District Social Welfare Officer, CMO, DDRC and Regional Institute of Handicapped Persons (RIHP), Yairipok Bamol Leikai jointly organised a one-day medical assessment camp for differently abled persons on Monday at RHIP campus.
Speaking during the camp, district social welfare officer A Kameshwar informed that the camp has been organised to generate Unique Disability ID (UDID) card for differently abled persons as the previous disability certificates are no more valid.
As such, having UDID card is essential for differently abled people so as to avail benefit of different schemes implemented by government.
Moreover, special arrangements will be made for those who have UDID cards in the upcoming state assembly election, he added.
In all, 116 differently abled people including 76 related to mental instability, 9 with hearing impairment, 14 with locomotor disabilities, 5 with visual impairment and 15 multiple disabilities were assessed during the camp.
The camp was attended by specialist doctors namely Dr Ronita (psychiatrist), Kishorchand (clinical psychologist), Dr Birjit (ENT), Dr Tamphaleima (Orthopaedics), Dr Linthoingambi (ophthalmologist) and RHIP secretary Sh Kunjabihari Sharma among others.
