Senapati, September 03 2026: Displaced villagers from Tapon Namguang (Upper) village were brought to Senapati district Headquarters this evening.

They were first brought to the Senapati Police Station and were later taken to Taphou Liangmai at a temporary relief camp set up by the district civil society organizations in coordination with the District Administration, Senapati.

Altogether, 45 displaced villagers of Tapon Namguang (Upper) village were shifted from the village by Senapati Police and the Assam Rifles.

However, only 23 which includes elderly persons, women and children have been placed at the temporary relief camp while the rest are taking shelter at their relatives place.

It may be mentioned that three Liangmai Naga villages along the Imphal-Tamenglong Road under T Waichong SubDivision in Kangpokpi district have been burnt down by Kuki militants on September 1 .

Naga People's Organisation (NPO) spokesperson Ng Chunthan while addressing the media stated that 45 displaced villagers from Tapon Namguang (Upper) have been evacuated and brought to Senapati with the help of district Police and the Assam Rifles.

He went on to state that the District Administration, Senapati has assured to give all possible support to the displaced people.
