Imphal, January 10 2022:
On the third day of its national conference held in Hyderabad, All India Youth Federation (AIYF) resolved to jointly demand repeal of AFSPA at the national level.
Informing this in abatement, AIYF Manipur State Council president Moirangthem Somorjit recalled that many people have been killed and women raped under the shadow of AFSPA by security personnel.
Funds meant for development of the state were also used up in taking care of the security personnel under the draconian Act consequently leading to regress of the state, he contended, while appealing for joining hands to ensure withdrawal of AFSPA from Manipur.
Referring to the national draft report, Somorjit said that there are numerous well-educated and qualified youth.
Yet, the state failed to provide employment to them.
The government has been privatising resources of the state in favour of the rich and wealthy people.
Later, the government took the money secretly from the latter during election times to hold on to power, he alleged, while adding that taking over the economy of the state by some private bodies has led to mass unemployment of the youth.
Pointing out that the economy of the country should be for the people to ensure employment to people and youth in particular, he revealed that AIYF resolved to dethrone BJP in the country and to move forward towards socialist economy.
The conference attended by delegates from 20 states resolved to work for bringing change in the country, he added.
