NCFM celebrates 22nd Foundation Day, calls for peace and reconciliation

Imphal, September 03 2026: Naga Christian Forum Manipur (NCFM) celebrated its 22nd Foundation Day at St Paul's Retreat House, Mantripukhri, Imphal on Thursday with Church leaders, civil society leaders and representatives ofNaga Churches in Imphal.

Most Rev Dr Linus Neli, Archbishop of Imphal and Rev Sunny Ningshen, Finance Secretary, Manipur Baptist Convention were the main speakers.

Naga MLAs were invited but many could not attend due to the ongoing Assembly session.

Welcoming the gathering, NCFM vice president Pr Johnny G Shimray set the tone for the celebration, while president Th Sokho George traced the origin and growth of NCFM and its efforts to unite the Naga Christian community.

Speaking on "Reflection on the Past, Present and Future Situation of Manipur and the Response of the Church", Archbishop Linus Neli called upon thinkers and leaders to "dissect our past, confront our multilayered, multi-faith society with brutal honesty, and outline a rigorous, actionable path toward shared prosperity and peaceful coexistence" .

He stressed the Church's role in peacebuilding and restoration of trust.

Rev Sunny Ningshen spoke on "The Socio-Political Milestone of the Naga and the Church Intervention", highlighting the Naga sociopolitical journey and urging the Church to promote justice, peace and responsible leadership.

Rev Fr Mario Matuingai, former Minister Francis Ngajokpa and former Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray also shared reflections.

A special prayer for peace and reconciliation was led by Rev L Simon Roamai, president, AMCO.

The Choir Team of Namdunlong Baptist Church presented hymns, while Rev L Timothy Phaomei led the declaration of the foundation day.

NCFM general secretary K Daimai proposed the vote of thanks.
