Bishnupur, January 10 2022:
The Bengali residents of Saiton Gram Panchayat Ward No 7 and 8, Kumbi AC, have resolved to stand in solidarity with The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), JCILPS students' wing and civil society organisations in any demonstration they might launch in support of ILPS.
The resolution was made during a press briefing jointly organised by Joy Durga Committee, Sakti Sangam Youth Club and Saiton GP at Durga Mandir, located in Saiton Ward No 8 .
The meeting was attended by M Ibomcha, Pradhan Saiton GP, Sripat Das, Member, Ward No 7 and Sapana Pal, Member Ward No 8 as presidium members.
Addressing the media persons, M Ibomcha informed that the Bengalis of Saiton Nganukon have resided in this region from before 1950 and are bonafide citizens of the State.
Further, they also contributed and participated in the movement launched by JCILPS for implementation of ILPS in Manipur, he added.
M Ibomcha further said that the distasteful petition filed by Amra Bangali might cause tension between this tiny Bengali community and other communities in the State.
A member of Sakti Sangam Youth Club stated that Amra Bengalis' act of filing a petition opposing ILP implementation in Manipur was very unfortunate for the Bengalis of Manipur.
He continued to assert strongly that the Bengalis of Saiton Nganukon have no connection with this organisation in any way.
Further, he assured that the Bengalis of Saiton are ready and prepared to partake in any movement launched by JCILPS or JCILPS students' wing in support of ILPS.
