AR repairs market shed, distributes water tanks

Imphal, January 10 2022:
44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector IGAR (East) inaugurated the newly renovated women's market shed at Dikiuram village under Tamei Sub Division, Tamenglong district on Monday.
The repair work of the market shed commenced on November 9, 2021 together with the AR troops and locals of the area.
The locals had approached 44 Assam Rifles to help them renovate the market shed which was lying in a sorry state and completely unusable.
As the news about repair of the shed started spreading around the village more and more volunteers joined in.
With a new ray of hope for the women folks, they started collecting the construction materials.
The local resources not only reduced the financial burden, but also provided support to the local artisans.
The newly repaired women's market shed at Dikiuram saw a new dawn on Monday as the 44 Assam Rifles company commander dedicated the market shed to the spirit and grit of local people who worked hard with the AR troops.
On the orher-hand, Shangshak Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) distributed 10 water storage tanks (1000 litres each) to Numgou, Phalang and Sakok villages in Ukhrul district on Sunday as part of Assam Rifles' Civic Action Programmes.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the initiative taken by Assam Rifles has solved the long pending need of provision of drinking water storage facility to these villages.
The village authorities applauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for such humanely gesture, the PRO said.
