New guidelines issued for wood based industries

Imphal, January 10 2022:
Principal chief conservator of forests & HoFF has issued a notification regarding new guidelines for wood based industries in the state.
As per the notice issued by chief conservator of forest (A&P) and SLC on WBI member secretary VL Roui Kullai, all HPC-approved WBI units should be shifted to their allotted IEs within the next two months, falling which necessary action will be initiated for license cancellation.
Undertakings for allowing more WBls to function as per the availability of space should be provided from the IEs land owners from both already notified and newly approved ones, without which the WBls in that IE shall not be allowed to function.
Action for de-notification of the IE may also be taken up for failure of submission of the undertaking and if the land owner refuses to accommodate more WBIs as per the availability of space, it said.
All WB1 units should ensure to maintain Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and provide a Green Belt (planting and growing trees) around the area of every IEs to sustain eco-friendly environment, it said.
