Two choppers to be used for election emergency

Imphal, December 04 2021: A consultative work shop on 'Covid related arrangement and cashless transaction' in connection with the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election-2022 was held on Saturday at CEO Manipur office, Lamphelpat.

State nodal officer (health) Dr L Tomcha, who took part in the consultative workshop, said that two helicopters will be pressed into service during the upcoming election so that Rapid Response Team could react immediately and undergo rescue works in times of emergency particularly in remote areas of the state.

Dr Tomcha further said that a state command centre which will work round the clock will be opened at CEO office and this will allow immediate attention to any election related incidents.

Further, district command centres too will be opened under the aegis of CMOs of districts concerned while one each rapid response team having medical officer will be established for every constituency.

Each rapid response team will have nurses and paramedics as supporting staff and two helicopters will be pressed into service for allowing rapid response team to react immediately in times of emergency in far flung areas during election, he said, adding that 128 officials each for every district will be provided life support training.

Necessary steps should be taken to ensure that Covid guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India and SOPs issued by state government are strictly followed during the election, he added.

According to additional CEO Manipur N Praveen Singh, who presided over the workshop, it was the first such workshop attended by CMO of every district as well as officials of RIMS, JNIMS and health department.

He said the workshop was organised to discuss about Covid related preparedness for the upcoming election as also on implementation of action plan on how cashless treatment could be done.

The workshop was also attended by assistant state nodal officer (health) Dr Y Premchandra Singh, SSO and assistant state nodal officer (health) Dr Somorjit Ningombam, CMOs, medical super intendents of seven districts and superintendents of RIMS and JINMS.
