Only BJP can save Manipur, asserts Biren
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, December 04 2021: Chief Minister N Biren has cate-gorically stated that BJP is the only political party which can and will save Manipur.

Addressing a political conference held at Pishum Ningom Leirak ground today under the aegis of BJP Keishamthong Mandal, N Biren stated that an atmosphere of corruption and violence would re-emerge in the State if the people vote Congress party to power.

There was no political party in the country during the past 70 years or so which took development and well being of Manipur with any seriousness until BJP came to power, Biren said.

Pointing out that it was the BJP-led Government's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah who fulfilled the people's decades old demand of introducing Inner Line Permit System in the State in order to protect the indigenous communities, Biren asserted that the people ought not forget such benevolent acts of the two leaders.

Further, the BJP-led Central Government renamed Mount Harriet of Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Mount Manipur in view of its significance in the history of Manipur, Biren continued.

Politics is basically about framing good policies/programmes and ensuring well being and development of the masses, he said.

Since BJP came to power both at the Centre and the State, a number of schemes are being implemented successfully in varied sectors and for different sections of the society such as health care, persons with disabilities, widows and education, Biren claimed.

Unlike in the past where common people had to sold off their properties including even household plots for treatment of their sick family members, free health care facilities are now given to the public through the Ayushman Bharat or PMJAY and the CMHT.

Under School Fagathansi Mission, necessary steps have been initiated to revive Government schools which were once on the brink of permanent shutdown, Biren said.

Elaborating on the number of welfare schemes taken up by the BJP-led Government, Biren went on to claim that more and more people are now supporting BJP as they are impressed by the many development and welfare projects taken up by the BJP-led Government.

All the acts and deeds done by the Central Government so far for the State of Manipur are clear testimonies of how concerned are BJP National leaders for the people of Manipur, Biren said.

That is why a large number of people have come forward to contest the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on BJP tickets, he continued.

Even though more than one individual have been seeking BJP tickets in many Assembly segments, only one individual would get the party ticket in each constituency, the Chief Minister said and appealed to the masses to vote in favour of the candidates chosen by the party (BJP).

Speaking at the political conference, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda asserted that the voters should analyse the political and social status of Manipur under the Congress Government in comparison with the changes brought about by the BJP-led Government while exercising their right to adult franchise in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Even though Congress and a few other political parties were ruling the country for almost 70 years since independence, it was only after BJP came to power that the citizens of the country got the real taste of freedom and India was able to join the global race for development, Sharda said.

In Manipur too, Congress party was in power for the longest period but the Congress Governments always resorted to brute force when the people came out to streets and protested in connection with different public issues, Sharda said.

Since the BJP-led Government was installed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been listening to public grievances and complaints on the last Sunday of every month at a regular programme known as Mann Ki Baat, she continued.

The Chief Minister and the State Government too set aside special days called Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders Day, and interacted with the masses and listened to their grievances on these special days, Sharda said and added that such interaction with the common people was unheard of during the days of Congress Government.

Education Minister S Rajen said that the people of Manipur were presented a gift called 'fake encounter' when Congress party was in power.

Apart from killing more than 1500 people in fake encounters, the Congress Government gave birth to a large number of widows, he said.

However, police-public relationship has improved considerably and the hill-valley bond which was quite strained some years back has been rejuvenated and strengthened these days, Rajen claimed.

BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-presidents N Nimbus, Th Basanta, BJP's intending candidates in Keishamthong AC Nishikant Singh Sapam, RK Shivchandra and Laishom Santosh too attended the political conference.
