Farmers training cum workshop organised

Imphal, December 04 2021: Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology organised a training programme for farmers of NER on cultivation of ginger, parkia sp., banana and citrus at Bioresources Park of IBSD at Haraorou under the on-going programme on "Bio-economy from Bioresources with special reference to North Eastern Region of India".

Speaking at the programme, IBSD, Imphal director Prof Pulok K Mukherjee briefed the participants on various resources and facilities available at Haraorou which can be used for the benefit of farmers of NER.

Many resource persons in eluding Prof NC Talukdar, Dr Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Dr Thoithoi and P Ngouba Singh shared their experiences and expertise on exploring these bioresources to develop and strengthen the economy of farmers of NER.

About 60 farmers from different villages of Manipur participated in the training programme and interacted with resource persons.

IBSD has been organising such trainings for the development of bioresources of NER to promote in different context as a part of the celebration of " Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" in commemoration of 75 years of Independence of India under the leadership of Prof Pulok.
