International Day of PwDs observed

Imphal, December 04 2021:
District Social Welfare Office, Kangpokpi in collaboration with Mangwa School for Handicapped, Charhajare, under Kangchup Area Tribal Women Society observed International Day of Persons with Disability (PwDs) under the theme 'Leadership and Participation of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) toward an Inclusive, Accessible and Sustainable Post-Covid-19 World' at the school's campus on Friday.
During the programme, Kangpokpi DSO S Santosh Kumar along with ZEO Lhingneikim Kipgen interacted with the specially- abled children studying at Mangwa School for Handicapped during which they assured of resolving all pending issues of the school.
The event was marked by performances of students and gift distribution to the children.
The session ended with a vote of thanks by Kangchup Area Tribal Women Society secretary Lhingneichong.
The programme was attended by school staff, executive body members, children and their parents.
Meanwhile, Padmashri Laishram Nabakishore Charitable Trust (PLANACT) Sagolband Khamnam Leirak in collaboration with International Handicapped Welfare Mission (INHAWEM) Moidangpok, Lainingthou Club Khangabok (LCK) and Share & Care (SAC) Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal organised an observance of International Day of PwDs at Khangabok Loishang community hall on Friday.
In a release, PLANACT informed five wheel chairs were distributed to the PwDs on the occasion.
The programme was attended by RIMS Department of Psychiatry HoD Dr RK Lenin Singh as chief guest, PLANACT chairman L Nabakishore as special guest and Khangabok Zilla Parishad Kh Rajmohan as president.
Professor of Gandhian Philosophy Dr Sarita Oinam, Khangabok Part II Gram Panchayat pradhan S Opendro, Khangabok Part III GP pradhan M Manglemjao and Khangabok Part I GP pradhan N Mala were also present as guests of honour, it added.
