Sonowal assures central aid in uplift of Loktak

Union minister of Port, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday visited Sendra to inspect Loktak lake and assured of central government's support in promotion and development of Loktak Lake to make it one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
A reception function of the minister was organised by Loktak Development Authority (LDA) in a floating boat at Sendra.
Stating that Loktak is one of the largest lakes in Asia with its greenery and marine lives surrounded by beautiful mountain, Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the activities that could be taken up for the development and promotion of Loktak lake as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.
Maintaining that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always gives special emphasis on speedy progress of the NE states, he said that Modi is the first PM in the last 75 years of Independence who has given his heart and soul to the promotion and development of North East and has taken lots of initiatives in connection with communication and connectivity, infrastructural growth, growth of industry, benefit to the poorest of poor, development of the youth, empowerment of women and also giving full support to the farmers.
He explained that his visit to the state is under the directive of the PM, to extend full support to the government of Manipur in the sector of Inland waterways development and also in the sector of Ayush.
The minister also extended his sincere respect to chief minister N Biren Singh, and said that with the guidance and support of the PM, could render his service to the state and lauded the LDA chairman for his hard work to develop the water body as a national and international tourist destination.
The function was also attended by Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Dr Rk Ranjan, Loktak Development Authority chairman L Susindro Meitei, Moirang A/C MLA P Sharatchandra Singh, officials and staff of LDA.
