Joint Transporter Committee floated

All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) in collaboration with different transporter associations on Saturday formed a Joint Transporter Committee, to help resolve the difficulties faced by the public due to high fare rates and inconveniences faced by the transporters.
Addressing a press meet held at its office here on Saturday, AMSU VP and Committee convenor Laishram Athouba informed that the Committee was formed, as a follow-up to the resolutions adopted during a meeting of the students' body and transporter associations held on November 22.Brahmacharimayum Dhanabir Sharma has been appointed as the chairman of the Committee and an advisory committeehas also been formed, he added.
He then announced the various other resolutions adopted which included charging only 50 percent of the fare from students having valid identity card and wearing proper uniform, lowering the price of fuel and urging the government for effective implementa-tidn of all schemes meant for transporters.
Urging the government to put the previous adopted resolutions into action, Achouba cautioned of launching various agitations in case of failing.

He further urged for taking the action before the upcoming elections in the interest of students and general public, failing which the transporter associations will withdraw all cooperation during the polls.
